Traditional Usui Reiki Training
This training is grounded in the traditional Usui method, taught in a structured and consistent format that emphasizes hands-on learning, supervised practice, and practical application. In-person instruction allows for direct observation, real-time feedback, and personalized guidance to help participants build confidence and skill through experience.

Who Takes Reiki Training?
Many participants pursue Reiki for personal growth, self-care, and to share its benefits with family and friends. Others choose to integrate Reiki into their professional lives, including massage therapists, yoga teachers, healthcare providers, and mental health professionals. Reiki is increasingly offered in hospital and wellness settings as a complementary approach to support relaxation, stress reduction, and overall well-being. Research suggests that Reiki can enhance comfort, decrease perceived stress, and contribute to a sense of balance, making it relevant for both personal and professional practice.

Are You Curious About Reiki?
Whether you are new to Reiki, seeking a refresher, or looking to build upon prior online learning with in-person experience, this training is designed to develop practical skills in a structured, supportive environment.

Overview
Reiki Level 1 introduces the foundational components of Reiki practice, including its history, guiding principles, and standardized hand placements. Participants engage in supervised, hands-on practice to develop familiarity with both self-application and working with others.

The training includes a guided self-Reiki experience, allowing participants to practice relaxation, self-awareness, and mindful presence. This self-practice is emphasized as an essential foundation: cultivating well-being within oneself supports the ability to offer Reiki with full presence and intention to others. Participants also practice giving and receiving a full Reiki session on another person, using traditional tables and seated positions. Instruction emphasizes consistency of technique, practitioner presence, and creating a calm, supportive environment.

Participants are also introduced to practical applications for everyday use, including sharing Reiki with family members.

Continuing Education / Contact Hours
Nurses are eligible to receive contact hours for completing this training when taken with Karyn Force, RN, at the Steinberg Wellness Center at Emerson.

Evidence-Informed Framework
The training introduces foundational concepts related to the body’s physiological stress response, including the role of the autonomic nervous system and the relaxation response. Participants explore how Reiki may be used as a complementary, non-pharmacologic approach to support relaxation, reduce perceived stress, and enhance overall well-being. Emphasis is placed on developing body awareness, establishing a consistent self-practice, and recognizing that personal well-being is integral to working with others, as well as understanding appropriate, ethical use in personal and supportive care settings.

Overview
Reiki Level 2 builds on the foundational skills developed in Level 1 by introducing more focused techniques. Participants learn to integrate traditional Reiki symbols to enrich intention and presence throughout a session.

Training includes supervised practice to refine skills in both giving and receiving Reiki, including the integration of new symbols and techniques. Participants also learn the traditional method of distance Reiki practice. The class blends hands-on instruction, group discussion, and experiential exercises in a nurturing, supportive environment, providing opportunities to ask questions, share experiences, and deepen practice.

The curriculum further explores the concept of energy centers, offering a deeper understanding of the interaction between mental, emotional, and physical states. This supports a comprehensive view of the mind-body-energy connection and the ability to work with energy in a mindful, intentional way.
